Dennis Smith, Ceramics Department Chair, has arranged with Bill Fitzgibbons (Executive Director of the Blue Star Contemporary Art Space) and Ovidio Giberga (Ceramic Dept. Head at UTSA) to open and tour the two exhibitions The Familiar Unknown and Relative Distances held at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Space and the UTSA Satellite Exhibition Space, respectively. This arrangement is at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 20th.
Both shows were curated by Ovidio Giberga. Ovidio will speak about his selection of work and the theme of both exhibitions. As you may know, the UTSA exhibition includes Ryan Takaba, Jennifer Datchuk, Wesley Harvey and Paul Northway, all of whom are part of our Ceramics faculty. “Some of the work is outstanding,” said Dennis.
The Contemporary Art Space includes Ceramic work of Susan Beiner (University of Arizona), Rebecca Hutchinson (Univ. of Mass. who just presented a workshop for SSAC), Rebecah Bogard and Anne Drew.
Dennis has opened this tour/talk up to any interested parties to best take advantage of their time. Please come if you have any interest.
The group will meet on Wednesday at 6:00 PM sharp, first at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Space and then from there will go on to the UTSA Satellite Space.
See you there!
