The SSAC Certificate Program encourages students to expand their creative horizons and develop fundamental skills while earning a formal recognition of accomplishment. Upon completion of the requirements, students will receive a formal certificate and be recognized during the All School Exhibition.
Certificates can be earned in one of six areas: Book Arts & Papermaking; Ceramics; Drawing, Painting & Printmaking; Fiber; Jewelry & Metals; and Photography.
Core classes provide a foundation for creative development, encourage students to challenge themselves, and allow them to step outside their area of concentration.

Core Classes will include concepts, theories, elements and principles, as well as skill development. Technical instruction will draw from a variety of materials and art forms. The scheduling of core classes will require advance planning as not every core class will be offered in every term. Certificate Program students are allowed to pre-register to ensure that the classes that they need to fulfill requirements are available.
This is a very flexible program, but students are encouraged to complete the requirements within seven years. Class attendance is important and will be required. The Certificate Program is open to anyone age 16 and above, although students between the ages of 16 and 18 must have written departmental and parental approval.
