SPECIAL EVENTS

The Southwest School of Art & Craft is grateful to the many donors who make our Special Events so successful and enjoyable.  From the elegant Gala & Art Sale to the casual chic of Savor the Arts and the family fun of Fiesta Arts Fair, our events are celebrations of the wonderful people who make up the Southwest School of Art & Craft community.

Gala & Art Sale

The Gala & Art Sale is held from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each October in the beautiful gardens of the Ursuline Campus.  The event features many works of art for sale, donated in support of the school by noted local, regional and national artists.  Only 350 Limited Edition Raffle Tickets are sold at $100 each for a chance to win one of the fabulous prize packages, often including foreign and national travel.  Individual seats are available at the Bronze ($225), Silver ($325), Gold ($500) and Platinum ($1,000) levels, and may be purchased in tables of 10.  link to donation form

Savor the Arts

A moveable feast, Savor the Arts is a casual preview of the annual All-School Exhibition, a juried show of the best student, faculty and guest work held each spring in the Russell Hill Rogers Galleries on the Navarro Campus. Patrons enjoy food donated by a wide variety of San Antonio’s best restaurants and caterers, live music, and the opportunity to be the first to purchase works of art in the All-School Exhibition. First-time patrons also obtain a complimentary one-year Family Membership, and proceeds benefit the Young Artist Programs.

Fiesta Arts Fair

Celebrating 32 years of creativity, the Fiesta Arts Fair at the Southwest School of Art & Craft is an official “kick-off event” for the renowned Fiesta® San Antonio - 10 days of merriment, pageantry, parties and parades, bringing thousands of visitors to the Alamo City every year in April.  The 2-day Fiesta Arts Fair is a family-friendly occasion, featuring 120 top artists, live music, a Children’s Art Garden and, as with all true Fiesta events, good food. In 2004, Fiesta Arts Fair received the San Antonio Critics Choice Award for “Best Fiesta Event.”

Sponsors for Fiesta Arts Fair receive recognition according to their level of support for the Fair.  Click here to see the Fiesta Arts Fair Sponsor Recognition Information and, click here to become a Sponsor.

By combining a history of place and space, a contemporary focus on traditional art forms and a commitment to community involve-ment, the school is, in many ways, a new model for cultural institutions of the 21st century.
