Major cultural exhanage centered around exhibition of 18 contemporary New Zealand artists who -- by blending Maori, European and global art influences -- convey a compelling vision of their unique identity. Works were selected by Nigel Borell of New Zealand and Kathy Armstrong, SSAC Associate Curator.

The annual All School Exhibition 2008 showcases outstanding recent works in a variety of media by artists, teachers and students at the Southwest School of Art & Craft. Juried works have been selected by Mary Mikel Stump, Texas State University. The 2008 Award for Teaching was given to painting and teens after-school faculty member Rainey.

Veronica Riedel: The Making of a Mestiza

Riedel, from Guatemala, explores the resilient nature of indigenous women in the Americas. Her collaged monoprints employ photographs, embroidery, and artifacts.
