Coates Chapel & Gardens

Coates Chapel
Two beautifully landscaped gardens and a gothic chapel with soaring ceilings attract those seeking an authentic San Antonio experience that’s reminiscent of the city’s early days. This dramatic setting, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers elegant, spacious interiors along with picturesque outdoor spaces.

Built in 1867 and now a deconsecreated space, the versatile, L-shaped chapel, with an ante-room that opens onto the gardens and an adjacent full catering kitchen, can be configured for as few as 50 or as many as 300.

Gate in the GardensRental of the Coates Chapel includes use of the adjacent Convent Garden, as well as the River Garden that fronts the “Museum Reach” section of the River Walk, including a barge landing. When the gardens are used, events can accommodate 500 guests.
