Art Educator Workshop | Jun 19 & 20

Art educators are invited to participate in a two-day program created specifically for them.  Recharge your creativity and come away with great ideas for your class while earning 12 CPE credits. Registrants can select one morning workshop and one afternoon workshop from a choice of two options.

This workshop follows a lesson plan on creating compositions working with a reductive approach and explores ideas concerning the visual and conceptual power of removal. The goal of this workshop project is to explore the preexisting structures present around us and use those structures while exploring juxtaposition, lamination, pattern, and positive and negative space. This workshop will introduce the basic techniques required to create simple plaster and bisqueware (clay) molds. Molds are a great tool in creating handbuilt elements or forms. Educators will have the opportunity to create one open-face press mold, a few sprig molds, and a few bisqueware molds as well as have time to experiment in clay with other various molds. Learn to get the most out of art materials in the classroom, as well as tips and tricks, how materials work together, and new resources. Learn about substrates-canvas, wood, MDF, and paper-and ways to build a painting surface along with painting effects, medium combinations such as collage or photo transfer, and other interesting materials and effects. This mixed media drawing approach blends the use of drawing and printing techniques, by transferring charcoal drawings using a form of relief printing-a trace/transfer method.
