SSA Exhibitions Program Mission
The Exhibitions Program at Southwest School of Art (SSA) is an integral part of academic life for SSA students and a source of enrichment and engagement for the larger community. Through the presentation of outstanding works of art, SSA’s Exhibitions Program positions itself as a leader in the contemporary art field, encouraging interaction, critical dialogue, and aesthetic engagement through its exhibitions, ancillary programs, and projects centered on the works of emerging and established artists as well as faculty and students.
Vision Statement
Through ambitious and innovative programming, Southwest School of Art is a recognized leader in contemporary art exhibitions, taking a key role in fostering discourse on issues of contemporary art among students, artists, art professionals, and the community.
Visiting Artist Program (VAP)
The Visiting Artist Program is designed to complement our curriculum and exhibition program through expert commentary and critique, presentations, and discussions while encouraging an ever-expanding network of collaboration with individuals and institutions.
Exhibitions at Southwest School of Art
Southwest School of Art is the site of more than a dozen exhibitions each year by prominent local, regional and national artists. We are recognized by many as one of the best places in San Antonio to view art and as a key contributor to the San Antonio arts and culture scene and all exhibitions are free and open to the public.
