The BFA in Art program at Southwest School of Art is highly selective. Admission is based on the prospective student’s application materials outlined below, so applicants should take special care in preparing them. Because each cohort of students enrolled to SSA’s BFA program will be limited to about 25 students, some applicants who meet our desired traits cannot be guaranteed admission. It is always a good practice to apply by the priority deadline of March 1, 2014.
The Southwest School of Art Admission Committee is charged with making admission decisions. The committee consists of faculty and staff--specifically two faculty who serve on a rotating basis, the dean, the director of admission and recruitment, and the president.
A timeline of important dates and deadlines is available for your planning. Again, check back frequently as this timeline is subject to change as Fall 2014 approaches.

Preparing Your Portfolio
Along with an application and other supporting documents, each prospective student will be asked to submit a portfolio as part of the admissions process. We have some suggestions and thoughts about preparing yours.
