Departments and Studios

At Southwest School of Art, we put a lot of emphasis on creative thinking and studio skills and believe it’s important for students to learn both traditional and innovative approaches. Our Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree curriculum includes seven (7) areas of studio emphasis: Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Metals, Paper and Book Arts, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture & Integrated Media and centers on the process of making as a form of inquiry and discovery.

Students share intense studio experiences within a totally art-focused environment, a place where creative people find their voice and flourish as artists.

With over 33,000 square feet of well-equipped, industry-standard studio space at their disposal, students in our college program are well positioned to continue on their journey of expressing new ideas and exploring new ways of making. Our goal is to provide a free and open learning environment where every idea is met with the right tools, equipment and guidance to become real.
