5061 | Introduction to Computer Graphic Programs
This studio course will develop a strong understanding of the creative possibilities available through the use of Adobe Creative Suite® for artistic purposes. Topics include computer graphics hardware, electronic images, electronic publishing, and vector-based graphics. Hands-on training with basic drawing/painting, word processing, and desktop publishing applications will be covered. Assigned projects will explore how to apply art, design, and computer knowledge in solving visual and conceptual problems. Using computers, students will use Adobe Creative Suite®, which includes Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Requirements: A working knowledge of computers is essential. A materials list will be provided upon enrollment.

This course will provide a thorough grounding in Photoshop and is designed to expand the student's skills in pixel-based photographic design and printing. Adobe Photoshop® is the primary image processing program used to digitally enhance, alter and retouch photographic images. Using digital cameras to capture images, as well as flatbed and film scanners to digitize other photographic images, students will then use computers to improve or alter those images. A variety of output methods will be used, including laser and ink jet printers, to introduce students to the artistic possibilities of digital photography. NOTE: Knowledge of computers essential. (No class Mar 4)
