Welcome to the Southwest School of Art

Hidden away in the heart of downtown San Antonio is a tranquil oasis on the banks of the romantic San Antonio River. Our classic buildings and lush grounds are an important part of the city’s rich history, its architectural past, and its creative soul — and offer an unforgettable setting for your social and corporate events.

The Southwest School of Art offers a variety of options for every event from a fairytale wedding to a cozy reunion luncheon, from a corporate retreat to an edgy cocktail party inspired by contemporary art. We can accommodate parties of as few as 12, to as many as 500. Event space is available on both our historic site, the original Ursuline Convent and Academy, and our modern studio and gallery campus.

The Coates Chapel is our premier venue space, consistently voted by local publications and wedding sites as the best place to get married in South Texas. Although deconsecrated, the Chapel retains a reverent, graceful ambiance. The Chapel rental also includes our lush gardens and courtyards, providing endless flexibility. Sunday Site Visits
