Summer Art Studios

Southwest School of Art's Summer Arts Studios 2020 will be a virtual experience offering four weeks of classes for students—Kids Studio, ages 5 – 14; and Teens Studio, ages 14 – 18. Our dedicated artist-teachers focus on fundamentals such as drawing and painting, as well as experimental design and classes that explore world cultures.

This year, we have selected a suite of our most popular classes to offer virtually so that students can learn in the comfort and safety of their own home. Selection and space is limited. Tuition for online Summer Art Studios classes includes a supply kit of high quality and curated art making materials which families will pick up at the SSA campus. Students who do not live in the San Antonio area can receive the supply kit by mail, but must register no later than June 23; please contact the school for details.

The third summer of Nature of Art at Confluence Park, offered in partnership with the San Antonio River Foundation, will also be offered as a virtual classroom experience this year. This free summer program combines the best of nature, creativity, art, and exploration for youth in San Antonio. Students interested in participating will need to call the Registration office to register and may only register for one session.

Registered students will be provided an individual SSA account email which will securely allow you into the classroom you are registered for.

The arts teach children and teens vital skills that nurture intellectual and creative development and prepare them for the 21st century. Perhaps now more than ever—as San Antonio becomes increasingly diverse, the world more interconnected, and the workplace more oriented around technology and creativity—arts education is a key to ensuring student success in school, work, and life. A leader in arts education for five decades, Southwest School of Art offers multiple avenues for access to the visual arts for young artists across San Antonio.
